Process Paper
Choosing My Topic
Choosing my topic wasn't easy. I considered a few topics and was leaning
towards the Salem Witch Trials. That Halloween, my class and I watched a
video of a read aloud on the Witch Trials. It intrigued me because I believe
that the "Afflicted Girls" had the right to make the decision of what they
were going to do about the situation they were in but the responsibility
of that choice caused the death of many innocent people.
Conducting Research
I started to conduct my research by searching for books in the school
library. The librarian let me borrow one of her personal books and check out a
few others. That personal book had many pictures so I went to the picture
credits and found that the majority came from North Wind Picture Archives. There
I found many resources for my website. I then continued to search online. On the
result list I found a website from Virginia University's library. There I found
lots of people involved, court records and much more. I then started to seek a
video for my website and found one on History.com.
Choosing Presentation Category
Choosing the presentation category was very easy. My teacher, Mrs. Long,
simply told us that we would each be doing a
website.
How it Relates to the Theme
My topic, The Salem Witch Trials, relates to the theme because the girls
had the right of speech and choice they but violated those right and didn’t
take responsibility by lying. Instead of telling the truth, they decided to
blame the situation on innocent people in Salem Village, costing their
lives.
